POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
PRIMARY HOST/MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Each reservation must have a designated Primary Host responsible for payment, group conduct, and compliance with all policies. The Primary Host must be at least 18 years old, or 21 if alcohol is being consumed. A valid physical ID is required at check-in. Photocopies or digital copies will not be accepted. All individuals, 5 and older will be charged.
SUBSTITUTING GUESTS OR ADDITIONAL UNPAID GUESTS: Substituting or sneaking in additional guests is strictly prohibited. All guests must check in at the front before joining your party. We reserve the right to charge the credit card on file for any additional guests based on the hours booked. Violations may result in a $100 fee or immediate removal of all guests without refund.
ROOM USE / END OF SESSION POLICY: Your reservation is for a specific, pre-booked period of time, and access to the karaoke room is limited strictly to your reserved session duration. Once your session has ended, guests are not permitted to remain in the room for extended use. A 10-minute grace period is provided at the end of your reservation solely for gathering belongings, light cleanup, and vacating the room, and is not intended for continued use of the space. We kindly ask that the Primary Host monitor the session time and begin packing up prior to the scheduled end to ensure a timely exit. Any additional time spent in the room beyond the allotted session and grace period may result in additional charges, as this policy allows our staff adequate time to properly clean and prepare the room for the next group. If you would like access to the room prior to your scheduled reservation time for decorating or setup, this must be included in your total reserved time, as early access is not guaranteed unless it is part of your booking, and any setup or decoration time will count toward your overall reservation period.
DECORATIONS FOR SPECIAL EVENTS: All decorations must be approved by management prior to your visit. Minimal décor, such as balloons, is permitted. However, items affixed to walls are not allowed. Confetti, glitter, boa feathers, beads or anything similar which will cause a lot of cleaning are not approved. Please note that any damage resulting from decorations—even if approved—may incur a fee. No lighting of candles, sparkers or any other open flame shall be permitted without prior approval. Lighting of candles, if permitted, shall only be done by staff.
PROPERTY DAMAGE POLICY: We kindly ask all guests to treat Backroom Karaoke property with care during their visit. Please note that we reserve the right to charge the credit card on file or deduct from any cash held for any damage to or theft of property. For accountability, our staff inspects each room before and after every session.
CONDUCT POLICY: To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, Backroom Karaoke reserves the right to refuse service to anyone displaying disruptive, rowdy, or inappropriate behavior. Overly intoxicated guests may be asked to leave along with their party. A $150 fee will be charged for vomiting or excessive cleaning. No refunds will be given for policy violations.
DRINKS: Outside drinks are not permitted except bottled water, and BYOB. A $50 fee will apply if found. BYOB is allowed per N.J.S.A. 2C:33-27. Hard liquor (30%+ alcohol), premixed drinks, and Jello shots are strictly prohibited. 21+ to drink alcohol. Anyone under 18 may not consume alcohol. If underage drinking occurs, the entire group will be asked to leave with no refund. Guests must bring their own plates, utensils, cups, ice, and coolers. We offer non-alcoholic drinks for sale.
FOOD: Outside foods and snacks are not permitted, except for birthday cakes. A $50 fee will apply if found. You may bring candles, but we must light it for you. Please supply your own plates, utensils, napkins, cups, ice and coolers for any cakes and BYOB drinks. We sell light finger foods, drinks, and can also cater food. SONG CATALOG: Our catalog features over 100,000 songs, with new titles added weekly by our provider. While we strive to offer a wide selection, we cannot guarantee the availability of specific songs. You may browse the current catalog online prior to your visit. Please note that no refunds will be issued based on song availability.
NON-REFUNDABLE BOOKING FEE: A booking fee, which is a fee to secure your reservation is not the full cost of the room rental, is required for all reservations and will be applied as a credit toward the total room rental. The booking fee is $50 for reservations up to 2 hours, and $100 for reservations more than 2 hours (4 hours is maximum booking time). This booking fee is non-refundable under any circumstance, unless Backroom Karaoke cancels the booking or the cancellation qualifies under the policy outlined below. Walk-ins are exempt from the booking fee. By submitting an RSVP, you acknowledge and agree that the booking fee is strictly non-refundable, including but not limited to illness, accidents, or other unforeseen events. This policy ensures fairness and prevents extended time blocks from being reserved without commitment. As we have only one room available, your reservation secures the space exclusively for your group and may result in turning away other customers.
CANCELLATIONS: You may cancel your reservation within 7 days of the date your reservation was confirmed and receive a refund of your booking fee, minus a 5% processing fee if paid by credit card. After this 7-day period, you may still cancel; however, the booking fee is strictly non-refundable for any reason. By reserving, you acknowledge that the booking fee is forfeited for cancellations made outside of the 7-day window, including but not limited to illness, scheduling conflicts, or other unforeseen circumstances.
RESCHEDULING: You may reschedule your reservation date—subject to availability—within 2 weeks of the date your reservation was confirmed at no additional cost. After this 2-week period, any request to reschedule will be treated as a cancellation and new reservation, and will require an additional non-refundable booking fee, which will be applied as a credit toward your room rental fees.
LATE ARRIVAL: We allow a 30-minute grace period for late arrivals. After that, the session time will be reduced, and you’ll still be charged for the balance of your reserved duration. In no case will the charge be based on less than 1 hour duration. For example, if you reserve 2 hours and arrive 1 hour late, you'll be charged for 1.5 hours. This policy ensures fair scheduling and prevents unused time from blocking availability for others.
CREDIT CARD OR CASH HELD FOR INCIDENTALS: On the day of your reservation, we require a credit card or $150 cash to be held until the end of your session. This will be returned after a staff inspection confirms no damage, theft, or issues. By booking, you agree to this policy. If you decline to provide the required deposit, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation.
RELEASE OF LIABILITY: Backroom Karaoke is not responsible for any injuries sustained by guests, damage to personal property, or loss/theft of personal items. The person making the reservation agrees to inform all participants of these policies and accepts full responsibility for any violations.
